Began rapid development of information technology since the information revolution. Information revolution gave birth to a new civilization in the information, so as to facilitate a person to interact and improve social mobillitas, on the side can overcome distance, time and space.

The information revolution is marked either by the presence of computer information technology. The computer comes from the Latin meaning computare count. At first, the first computer designed to use to calculate. The first computer was taken inspiration from the world's oldest calculating tool "Abaccus" in 300 BC.

The concept of the first computer designed by Howard G. Aitken (1937). By working with IBM (International Business Machines Corp..), Managed to make a machine that works with the electromagnetic force called the Harvard Mark-1. This computer is the first generation of computers that weigh up to 5 tons, with the ability to make calculations 23-digit numbers for 6 seconds.

Along with the development of science and technology, the computer was born the second generation, third, and until the computers we use today. Along the same computer is equipped with a network. In 1973, ARPANET computer network are widespread.

A year later more than 100 computers on ARPANET joined to form a network. Because computer networks are more and more, it takes an official protocol that is recognized by all networks. Then in 1982, established the Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) that we know today.

Finally, in 1992 Tim Berners Lee to find programs that can roam between computers. The program we are familiar with www (world wide web), which then led to the term surfing or browsing.

Www Through this we can get a variety of information we need to ease the development of science. By simply turning on a computer and utilize a network in which we can explore without being limited by distance, time and space.

Computer networks are very useful for a variety of our needs. There are two benefits of computers, namely for the company and to the public.

The benefits of computer networks for companies:

1. Can share resources, which is beneficial to the entire program, particularly the data, can be used every person on the network without being affected by the position of the source and user.

2. Has a high reliability is beneficial because all the files can be copied (backed up) to all machines so that if one machine dies, the file remains accessible from other machines that are still active.

3. More efficient. Small computer that has the price ratio and better performance compared to large-sized computer. For example, the speed of mainframe computers 10 times faster than personal computers, but prices are 10 times more expensive mainframes.

The benefits of computer networks for public:

1. Access to information located elsewhere, such as today's news, information from government, business, economy, everything is up to date.

2. Facilitate communication between person to person, such as email, chat, video conferencing, social networking and so on.

3. Can provide interactive entertainment, like watching tv shows online, streaming radio, download movies and songs.
